In 2019 Greece, introduced one of the most competitive film incentives programs in the world. EKKOMED.
A 40% Cash Rebate on eligible production expenses for Films and TV series, which instantly propelled Greece to the forefront of the audiovisual industry, making it an irresistible filming destination.
What sets the EKKOMED Cash Rebate apart is its streamlined and efficient process, designed with the needs of producers in mind. In addition, Ιf the local spend exceeds the €6.4M threshold, the fees for the director and the two lead actors will also qualify for the 40% rebate, capped at 25% of the total Greek costs.
Since 2019, 291 projects have been reimbursed with more than 270 million euro helping them bring their film to life.
EKKOMED announced a new five-year plan for 2026-2030 in which Greece will support the film and TV production with a total of €412M. Of this, €190M is specifically allocated to international productions filming in our country. The platform is currently open and accepting applications with €38M available for scripted series and feature films.

The Greek Cash Rebate cap is €8M per project. For special projects that promote Greece, the cap can reach up to €10M.

Unfortunately at this time non-scripted content as well as commercial films do not qualify for the Greek Cash Rebate.

Projects exceeding 6.4 million euros in local expenditure can further qualify 3 international line items - the Director as well as two Lead Cast members - at an 80-20 ratio. At 6.4 million (GQE), this equates to 1.6 million in International Qualifying Expenditure.
